Understand what can be lost
Leaving Thailand without the required re-entry permission can end an existing permission to stay. The visa sticker, entry permission and extension of stay are not always the same thing.
Check before every trip
Review the passport stamp, expiry date and re-entry status before booking. Confirm whether a single or multiple re-entry permit best fits the travel plan.
Keep evidence accessible
Carry copies of marriage and residence documents when useful, and retain evidence of any re-entry permit issued.
Return before expiry
A re-entry permit generally preserves the underlying permission only until its existing expiry date. It does not create extra time.
Verify at the official source
Procedures, locations and fees may change. Check Thai Immigration guidance shortly before departure.
Official verification
For current requirements, consult the relevant embassy or consulate, your chosen Thai district office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and the Thai Immigration Bureau.
